On Sunday, April 21, 2024, Parkwood Church is looking forward to welcome with pleasure Mphatso Ngulube from Malawi, where she is working with the Synod of Livingstonia as Health Coordinator. A former clinical nursing instructor and ex-manager of one of the first faith-based HIV/AIDS programs in the country, Mphatso oversees the works of three hospitals that provide curative, preventive and promotive health services to a catchment population of over half a million people in a politically remote and underserved region of northern Malawi as part of the Synod of Livingstonia’s mission to promote health and proclaim a clear Christian witness.
This work is in part supported by Presbyterian World Service and Development (PWS&D) under whose auspices Mphatso is coming to visit Canada. We are excited at the prospect of Mphatso speaking to the congregation at Parkwood and hearing firsthand about the partnership with PWS&D and the health ministry she is leading.
She is planning to make a presentation during worship at 10 a.m., followed by an informal Q&A during fellowship hour immediately following worship from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
We would like to extend an invitation to anyone within the congregations in Presbytery of Ottawa with a connection with or intrigued by Malawi and the work of the church there to join us in welcoming this special visitor, either for worship or fellowship, bearing in mind that this visit provides an opportunity for us to strengthen the bonds that exist between and unite our denomination here in Canada with the wider presbyterian family beyond the shores of this country.
